In 2006 there is a rapidly growing number of consumers insisting that the marketplace provide products that are more environmentally and socially conscious. Here at Itali Lambertini our ongoing mission is to create jewelry that our customers can feel good, not guilty, about enjoying. A large part of this goal is the gold we use. For this reason we purchase all of our gold stock from Hoover and Strong.

Hoover and Strong is proud to supply all of their products in EcoGold that does not harm communities, workers and the environment. Over half of their gold is purchased from jewelers and recycled in their environmentally friendly refinery. Hoover and Strong's treatment facility removes all harmful materials from water with a chelating process before it is evaporated. No waste water is discharged into the environment before being fully treated. Their new refining processes create up to 75% fewer waste products than standard refining techniques.

Their self-sufficiency makes them the most eco-friendly and responsible refiner and supplier of metal to the jewelry trade, bar none.

The balance of their gold is purchased from other environmentally friendly refineries, and mines that follow these guidelines:

Appreciation of basic human rights outlined in international conventions and law.
Free, prior and informed consent of communities affected by mining operations.
Provide safe working conditions, respect for workers rights and labor standards.
Keep operations out of areas of armed or militarized conflict, protected areas, fragile ecosystems or other areas of high conservation value.
Do not force communities off their land, dump mine waste into water or generate sulfuric acid.
Disclose information about social and environmental effects of projects.

We are also working towards providing only gems that are guaranteed conflict free.

Sheryl's degree in Environmental Education, passion for recycling and composting, coupled with Tim's equally ardent passions for both, has created a team that has built an eco-friendly straw bale house and home based business.
